Marissa is the mind and face behind MAIA. She began her nursing career in 2007 and moved into the aesthetic world in 2015. Since then, she has been trained extensively by some of the most reputable aesthetic practitioners throughout the world, attended multiple specialty conferences and courses, and received the honored designation of Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist (CANS). Most recently, Marissa received her Master’s of Nurse Practitioner Degree, specializing in Adult Acute Care from the University of Toronto, giving her the title of Nurse Practitioner.

Since 2018, Marissa has been training physicians, surgeons, and nurses throughout BC in basic and advanced injection techniques for neuromodulators and hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. What makes Marissa exceptional at what she does is her passion, attention to detail, and thirst for more knowledge. Marissa strives for excellence and stays current on the safest, evidence-based, and most innovative injection knowledge available.

Marissa founded MAIA in 2020 with the goal to elevate the level of education currently offered for clinicians wanting to train in aesthetic medicine. As a strong proponent for comprehensive introductory training and ongoing education and support for clinicians, Marissa was motivated to create a distinct learning opportunity that can take clinicians from beginner injectors to advanced practitioners over a series of courses and mentorship opportunities.

When she isn’t injecting, you can find Marissa snowboarding, practicing yoga, or enjoying fine food and wine with close friends. Fun fact, while most people have a pet dog, Marissa and her husband have a pet tortoise they affectionately call “Turtle”.
